Inspired from the action of my friend Sagarmal Jain's Fan Page, I thought I should post a Article on "Tips for facebook fan page" -hope you'll find it interesting...
- Its is the common way for promoting your Business, Website or a Blog.
1) Have Outstanding Content. It is but obvious, Fans follow great content. Much like a writing a book, blog or website, the information must be good.
2) Stay on Topic 90% of the Time. If your Fan Page is about Computer Science or I.T., then the content should deal with Technology n Programming stuff. Then again, You should not take any advice or content from Artist’s Fan Page either. See the point ?
3) Update the Wall Post at Least Daily. Your fans are connected to you in ways that a website can’t be. You have access to their personal Facebook Wall.
4) Don’t Update the Wall More than Three Times a Day. My personal recommendation and experience is that you should update your Wall once or twice a day, spaced out accordingly.
5) Post More than Words on your Wall. You have this great tool that takes pictures, video, and links of every kind.
6) Tell me Something on Your Wall I cannot Find Anywhere Else. Be different, keep my attention !!
What’s the point of becoming a Fan of your Facebook Fan page. Offer me something that I cannot find anywhere on Google or other search engine?
7) Have a Facebook Fan Page link from your Website or Blog. Practice cross-marketing by asking your website or blog followers to “Like” your Fan Page and link to it.
8) Have the “Welcome” tab be the default tab Fan page. (It was not found on Sagarmal's Fan Page)
You need to have a default tab that tells your prospective fans to do something. By the way, the first thing they should do is “Like” your page.
9) Have your Sidebar Logo Picture Remind your Potential Fans to “Like” your page. Regardless of how people find your page or on which tab they interact with on your Fan Page, there should always be something (in this case the sidebar) that reminds them to “Like” your page.
10) Add Your Fan Page to your eMail Signature with a Link. You send and respond to tons of email. Make sure your signature is reminding everyone to join and be a part of your Facebook Fan Page.
11) When You have More than 25 Fans, Go get your Facebook URL. Facebook is now the 3rd or 4th most searched site and it is imperative that potential user find you at www.facebook.com/YourName, not the default long-as-your-elbow link Facebook assigns you.
12) Promote Your Fan Page on Your Personal Facebook Account. I know this should be a given, but so many people don’t do this. If you have a personal Facebook account, why not tell your existing 200-500 friends to go “Like” your Fan Page ?
13) Ask Your Friends to Promote Your Fan Page on Their Social Media. Your friends have more influence through their own connections than perhaps anything you ever imagined. The cleaning people know people you can’t reach who probably need your services. Encourage them to promote you.
14) Once You Have Your URL, Release to Web About Your Business Fan Page to Tell the World. Do send out emails to your old friends, school friends, college friends, etc, Tell them about your Facebook Fan Page. Do you send out monthly newsletters or updates? Tell them about your Facebook Fan Page.
15) Cross-Link Your Other Social Media Markets to Point to Your Facebook Fan Page. If I find you on LinkedIn or Twitter, does it promote your Facebook Fan Page? If I find you on YouTube, does it promote your Facebook Fan Page? If I visit your blog, does it promote your Facebook Fan Page?
16) Empower “Other” friends to Provide Content and Prospective. You should not be on the only one provider of content for your Fan Page. Let’s hear from other non-technical, poet, etc kind of people. You’ll be surprised at the variety, connectivity, and transparency it brings to your page.
17) Delete Stuff Your Page Isn’t Using. If your Fan Page is not using the “Discussion” tab, remove it. (Don’t worry you can bring it back later.) If you’re not using the “Photo” tab, turn it off.
18) Respond Timely to All Comments. Your Fan Page is a two-way street of communication. Don’t let the littlest “Hi” go unnoticed. Take even criticism as an opportunity to publically address any and all issues.
19) Put Your Facebook Fan Page on All Your Physical or Digial Material. Don’t treat your Facebook social media as second-class mail. Proudly displace the logo and link on all your materials such as Images, etc.
20) 10% of the Time Post Something Funny about You or Your Activities to the Wall. You will remember in Tip -2) I advised to stay on topic 90% of the time. The other 10% should be genuinely funny, personal, or lighthearted and have nothing to do with you. You don’t have to be serious all the time, but do keep it in perspective.
21) Ask People to “Like” Your Fan Page. Ask, ask, ask. Don’t forget to ask. Speaking of ask, here’s a great Fan Page you should like: Sagarmal-Jain Fan Page.
